The difference between engineering plastics ABS and PC/ABS

ABS is the abbreviation for acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer, which has excellent impact resistance, heat resistance, and weather resistance. It is a very common engineering plastic that is widely used in many industries. In contrast, PC/ABS is a material made by blending polycarbonate (PC) and ABS, which combines the advantages of both plastics and has excellent mechanical properties and temperature resistance. ABS and PC/ABS are two different plastic materials, with some differences in properties and applications.
1 Composition: ABS is an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer, while PC/ABS is a material made by blending polycarbonate and ABS.
2 Physical properties: ABS has high impact strength, hardness, and rigidity, as well as certain heat resistance and chemical corrosion resistance. PC/ABS has added the composition of polycarbonate on the basis of ABS, making it have higher heat resistance, weather resistance, and better chemical corrosion resistance.
3 Processing performance: ABS has good processability, easy to shape and process, and can be processed through various methods such as injection molding and extrusion molding. Due to the addition of polycarbonate components, PC/ABS requires higher temperatures and pressures during processing, resulting in relatively poor processing performance.
4 Application field: ABS is widely used in fields such as household appliances, electronic products, automotive parts, toys, etc. Common products include TV casings, phone cases, automotive dashboard, etc. PC/ABS, due to its high heat and weather resistance, is commonly used in automotive interiors, electronic equipment casings, computer casings, and other products that require high temperature and weather resistance.
Overall, ABS has good mechanical and processing properties, while PC/ABS adds heat and weather resistance to ABS, making it suitable for higher demand application scenarios.
