What are PBT modified plastics and their characteristics

PBT modified plastic is a kind of crystalline aromatic polyester, which belongs to one of the engineering plastics, which has the advantages of chemical corrosion resistance, low moisture absorption, and easy processing and molding. However, most of the mechanical properties of unmodified PBT materials are inferior to other engineering plastics, and there are also defects such as low heat deflection temperature, dimensional stability at high temperature, and sensitivity to notches in impact strength. The modification of PBT data mainly includes glass fiber reinforced PBT and flame retardant PBT.
The flame retardancy of PBT data is UL94HB grade, and it can reach UL94V-0 after adding flame retardants. Commonly used flame retardants are bromide, phosphide, chloride and antimony trioxide. At present, most of the flame retardant PBT is a flame retardant type with the addition of decabromodiphenyl ether and antimony trioxide.
Glass fiber reinforced PBT data has excellent toughness and fatigue resistance, heat resistance, good weather resistance, good electrical properties and low water absorption. After modification, it can significantly improve its heat resistance, modulus, dimensional stability and flame retardancy, and strengthen the flame retardant PBT data is widely used in automotive, electronic and electrical industries.
Main characteristics of PBT modified plastics:
1. Mechanical properties: stable tensile strength, similar to tensile modulus and nylon;
2. The friction coefficient is small and self-lubricating;
3. Low water absorption rate and excellent electrical properties;
4. Good dimensional stability;
5. Excellent chemical resistance and oil resistance.
The main applications of PBT plastics
1. Electronic appliances
No fused wire relay, electromagnetic switch, return transformer, home appliance handle, connector, etc.; PBT is usually mixed with 30% glass fiber as a jointer, and PBT is widely used because of its mechanical properties, solvent resistance, good formability and low price.
2. Cooling fan
Glass fiber reinforced PBT is mainly used in cooling fans, cooling fans are placed in the machine for a long time to rotate to assist in heat dissipation, plastic physical properties require heat resistance, flame retardancy, insulation and mechanical strength, PBT is usually used in the way of fiber 30% as the outer frame of the cooling fan and fan blade coil shaft.
