1、 What is Modified PC
PC is the abbreviation of polycarbonate, and the English name for polycarbonate is Polycarbonate, abbreviated as PC engineering plastic.
Modified PC refers to polycarbonate products that have been modified by filling, blending, and strengthening methods on the basis of polycarbonate, resulting in improved flame retardancy, strength, impact resistance, toughness, and other properties.
The main performance defect of PC is that its hydrolysis stability is not high enough, and its resistance to chemicals and scratches is poor. Long term exposure to ultraviolet light can cause yellowing. PC, like other resins, is also susceptible to corrosion by certain organic solvents. Polycarbonate has poor wear resistance, and some polycarbonate devices used for wear prone applications require special surface treatment. Modified PC, on the basis of polycarbonate, is processed and modified to become a plastic with superior properties such as flame retardancy, impact resistance, high toughness, and ease of processing.
2、 There are three types of modified PC plastics: flame retardant PC, toughened PC, and glass fiber reinforced PC.
01. Flame retardant PC: Flame retardant PC has excellent mechanical properties, high thermal deformation temperature, high dielectric strength, good electrical insulation, and good flame retardant effect. So it can be widely used in products such as charger shells, phone shells, OA shells, projector shells, etc.
02. Toughened PC: Toughened PC is mainly divided into ordinary grade toughened PC and high fluidity toughened PC. Ordinary grade toughened PC materials can be applied to thin-walled products, automotive parts, mobile phones and other electronic and electrical products; High fluidity PC can be used for ultra-thin wall components, such as flat back covers (0.4mm).
03. Glass fiber reinforced PC: Common glass fiber reinforced PC materials include PC+10% and PC+20%.
(1) The characteristics of PC+10% GF material: high impact, high toughness, chemical resistance, and high fluidity. Applied to mobile phone shells, thin-walled products, LCD backlight boards, etc;
(2) The characteristics of PC+20% GF material include high fluidity, high modulus, halogen-free, and good chemical resistance. Applied to mobile phone shells, tablets, non steel inserts, etc.
