PC/ABS alloy can integrate the excellent properties of both materials. On one hand, it improves the heat resistance and tensile strength of ABS, while on the other hand, it reduces the melt viscosity of PC, enhances processing performance, and decreases the sensitivity of internal stress and impact strength to product thickness.
PC and ABS have a certain degree of compatibility; however, the compatibility between PC and ABS is greatly influenced by factors such as the types of the two components, their ratios, and processing techniques. To effectively improve interfacial compatibility, the most effective method is to add a compatibilizer to the blending system. Common compatibilizers include: maleic anhydride (MAH) grafted POE, grafted ABS, grafted PE, styrene-maleic anhydride graft copolymer (SMA), copolymers of acrylic or methacrylic esters, amine-based compatibilizers, SAN, and two-component compatibilizers.
