Detailed information
PA6 engineering plastic, formally known as polyamide 6 (nylon 6), was first synthesized in 1935. PA6 is a semi‑transparent, off‑white, crystalline polymer composed of the repeating unit [-NH-(CH2)5–CO]n, with a density of 1.13–1.15 g/cm³ and a melting point of 215–225°C. Its properties include thermoplastic behavior, chemical resistance, high toughness, and self‑lubrication. The strong polar amide groups within the molecular chain confer excellent strength, superior wear resistance, good moisture absorption, and resistance to oils and alkalis.
