Detailed information

Polyetherimide (PEI), also known as poly(bisphenol A tetracyanate), is produced by the condensation polymerization of bisphenol A dianhydride with various aromatic diamines (such as m‑phenylenediamine) and an appropriate amount of comonomer (e.g., aniline, phthalic anhydride) in a polar solvent at elevated temperatures. It appears as a transparent amber-colored material, is non‑toxic and odorless, has a density of 1.27 g/cm³, and exhibits a water absorption of 0.25% after 24 hours at 23°C.
